Room and Board / Tram and bus ticket

If desired, accommodation (without board) can be arranged by the office of the International Summer School for the duration of the selected course.
In order to benefit from this service, participants have to fill in completely the respective part of the application form.

If you wish to stay alone, together with a friend or other course participants - we will try to fulfil your wish and make everything possible. Accommodation wishes are respected as far as possible. The type of accommodation depends on availability.
For years we have a permanent staff of landladies and landlords who make accommodations available for our participants.

The accommodation is differently carried out: in flat-sharing communities, residences, families or single-flats, hotels/youth hostels. Kitchen facilities are for the most part available.
Please note: Rooms in student hostels are only in limited numbers at the disposal.

Due to the number of participants increasing steadily we cannot give any firm promises over the accommodation before the beginning of the course. However, we do our best to take your individual wishes into account.
You will receive the address of your accommodation in Bremen at the day of arrival.

Please note:

  • The Hochschule Bremen acts as negotiator between you and the landlord/landlady.
  • By marking the desired accommodation on the application form you are committed to accept the room and to pay the rent.
  • A change of rooms will be not possible during the course.
  • Costs for accommodation in privat accommodation, flat-sharing communities, families or single-flats run from EURO 350,- up to EURO 450,- (for the duration of the summer school session/bedlinen are included) and have to be payed in cash at the day of arrival or not later than three days after arrvial.
  • By choosing the accommodation in hotel /youth hostel the costs has to be transferred in advanced together with the course fee.
  • A key bail in the amount of EURO 50,- has to be paid at most accommodations. This bail will disbursed after a proper handing over of the room and the key to the lessor on the departure day.
  • On the departure day the room is at your disposal certainly until 11.00 h. The room and hand-over of keys has to be carried out until this time.

1) Lodging in privat accommodation, shared flates, families, single appartements, student hostels

  • The costs for accommodation run from EURO 350,- up to Euro 450,- for the duration of a course.
  • in basic student single rooms or double rooms
  • inclusive of bedlinen
  • without catering
  • The payment of the rent is carried out after arrival or at the latest within 3 days after arrival in cash.

2) Lodging in hotel / youth hostel

  • in single room with shower / bathroom - inclusive breakfast
    The costs for the single room are Euro 1500,- for the duration of a course.
    The payment is carried out by transfer the amount together with the course charges.
  • in double room - inclusive breakfast
    The costs in the double room are per person Euro 1200,- for the duration of a course. The payment is carried out by transfer the amount together with the course charges.

Private accommodation

There are a lot of landlords, landladies and families in Bremen who rent single or double rooms in their home or house during the summer. You get the chance to get in contact with your host and learn about Bremen and the daily life throughout this experience. You will share kitchen and bathroom with your host.

Shared flat/Living with roommates

In Germany it is not common for all students to live in dormitories. Most of the time students share a flat or an apartment with roommates. During summertime there are some of those places available, with one or even more rooms. You will share kitchen and bathroom.

Living in a dormitory

There are several dormitories in Bremen. The dormitories are at different locations in Bremen.

Please note: only single rooms or single apartments are available. The single room will be shared with one or more roommates in a shared flat. You will also share kitchen and bathroom.

The single apartments have living room and the place of sleep combined. You will have a kitchenette, your own toilet and shower. The kitchen is not equiped. You have to bring your own dishes and cooking stuff.

Living in a single apartment

You will live either in a single apartment in a student dormitory (please take a look at living in a dormitory) or in a private apartment. The private apartment is a separate apartment, where you live by yourself. It has a living room as well as a bedroom (separated or combined) with kitchen and bathroom.

After arriving in Bremen - the course office will provide participants with the address and detailed information concerning their housing.

 

Board

Participants arrange for their own meals during the summer school session. After arrival you will receive information about well-priced possibilities to eat (student cafeteria). The cafeteria will be open from Monday till Friday from 8.30 h – 15.30 h. There you can have breakfast, have a coffee or tea and get lunch. Lunch prices are about 4,- Euro.

 

Tram and bus ticket

As a participant of the International Summer School you can purchase a reduced monthly pass for EURO 50,-.
This ticket is available at the BSAG-Customer Centre at the Domsheide. With this pass you can travel on all trams and busses within the borders of Bremen. For travels on the night trams on the weekend a surcharge of 1,- Euro per night is due.
