The leisure programme would like to convey a coloured and illustrative picture of the German culture and way of life to the participants besides the daily lesson.
Seminars and Lectures
Topic: "Germany and Europe competing in a globalized world"
In addition to the daily language lessons seminars and lectures serve to provide important information and knowledge about the programme topic.
Lecturers and professors of the Hochschule Bremen will be giving lectures on economic, sociological, cultural and educational policy problems. They take place twice a week in the afternoon.

• A guided city tour
A tour through the historic centre of Bremen including the market place, Böttcher street and the very charming Schnoor quarter.
And of course, something you should not miss while being in Bremen – The Bremen Town Musicians!
• Reception at the Bremen parliament
Official reception at the parliament of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen.
• Disco-Tour
Bremen at night – together with the team of the International Summer School you are going to experience the clubs, discos as well as several hot spots in Bremen in only one night.
• Visit to Olbers-Planetariums
A visit to the planetarium at the Hochschule Bremen offers you a fascinating journey through the world of the stars.
• Visit to Brewery Beck & Co. and try the world-famous Beck's Bier
World-famous and popular – The Beck’s beer.
Because it is coming from Bremen, you can find the emblem of Bremen – “The Bremen key” - as well as the name of the city itself on the label of the Beck’s bottle.
Learn more about the art of brewing and the brands Beck’s and our local beer Haake-Beck. We are going to visit the beer museum, the raw materials showroom and the brewhouse. Finally we will get to try the various Beck’s beers – Cheers!
•Visit to the Weser stadium and the WERDER Bremen soccer museum
Green-White – Bremen’s soccer club “WERDER BREMEN”– The most famous ambassador of Bremen
Since the championship 2003/2004 whole Bremen and the neighboring cities have caught the Werder Bremen fever – cheering for their soccer team. It does not matter if German Soccer League or German Champions League – Werder Bremen can be found always among the first ranks. After visiting the stadium, you can see the various cups they have won as well as trikots, soccer shoes and many more things to see!
• Cooking course – an introduction to German food
Who always wanted to know what Germans like to eat, will find an answer through this course. This cooking course will teach us how to cook delicious dishes all about the potato. We are going to test our cooking skills together while preparing an appetizer, main dish and desert.
• Bowling night
Our bowling night is going to take place high above the roofs of Bremen. The theme: “May the best team win!”
• Karaoke night
Do you like to sing? Than this will give you a great opportunity to present your talent in front of an international audience. We have something for everyone – it does not matter if you like rock, pop or pop songs. We’ve got it!
• Salsa dancing class
Latin American rhythms in Bremen - Learn Latin American dances - Salsa and more - in the heart of Bremen.
• Farewell party
Once again we are going to celebrate with you – the end of an exciting and fascinating month in Bremen.
Excursions
The excursions are day trips and take place at the weekend. Each trip costs about EURO 40,-.
• Typical North German – a walk through the Wadden Sea to the Island Neuwerk in the North Sea
A walk through the Wadden Sea is a must for any visitor in North Germany – here you can experience high and low tide first hand.
The island Neuwerk in the National Park Wadden Sea is very close to the city Cuxhaven. It is a small island with an almost 800-year-old lighthouse is worthwhile visiting for every visitor. An unique and typical North German experience is the 2 hours hike through the Wadden Sea to the island Neuwerk. A delicious barbecue buffet is awaiting us there. After 2-3 hours on the island we are starting our return journey comfortably back by ship.
• Visit to the Free and Hanseatic Hamburg
Visit with us the most beautiful city in North Germany and the second biggest city in Germany. A guided tour offers you a great opportunity to get to know Hamburg at a glance. Following this you are going to experience a highlight of every Hamburg visit – a harbour cruise. The harbour in Hamburg is the biggest harbour in Germany and the seccond biggest in Europe.
• Bremerhaven – Bremen’s gate to the world
The smallest Federal State Bremen consists of two cities – Bremen and Bremerhaven.
The North Sea harbour in Bremerhaven is Bremen’s gate to the world.
We are going to visit the Emigration Center Bremerhaven – a great experience/museum. At the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century Bremerhaven used to be the centre of one of the biggest waves of emigration in Europe. More than 7 million emigrated through Bremerhaven to the “New World” as well as to South America.
The Zoo at the Ocean offers you an afternoon filled with a colourful animal life/world– polar bears, penguins and sea lions.
• Excursion to Wolfsburg – visit the VW-AUTOSTADT
For all car fans: People, cars and what moves them.
The Autostadt invites its visitors to journey into the world of mobility.

• Visit the capital of Lower Saxony - Hanover
Hanover is the capital of the second largest German Federal State Lower Saxony. It has about 523 000 inhabitants and is situated on the river Leine.
Hanover is known worldwide for the Hanover Fair and CeBIT. Here an important hub for rail and road links the north-south direction with those of the east-west direction. About the Mittellandkanal Hanover is also connected to the inland waterway network.
In recent years, Hanover has developed into a metropolitan region and a cultural center in northern Germany.
After a city tour there is plenty of time to explore Hanover and to go shopping extensively.
• Journey to Groningen/Netherlands – a typical Dutch town
Rich in history, open and hospitable, right on top of everything. It will grab you almost immediately. Groningen – a typical Dutch city - is worth a visit. Everywhere you can trace the past a large combined nowadays with a young and dynamic university metropolis.
And: Groningen city became the most beautiful city in the Netherlands. Many good reasons for us to visit Groningen.
