Syllabus and Faculty

International Summer School on Aerospace Engineering
Lectures, excursion and assessments 150 hours
Group work, individual preparation and reading 50 hours
Total duration 200 hours
Objectives

This course is aimed to introduce the students to system aspects of aerospace design work. Basic theoretical background and typical preliminary design examples are provided in the fields of aerospace propulsion systems, lightweight structures and finite element calculations. Emphasis is placed on an integrated consideration of design aspects in the frame of aerospace project work.

Therefore, also an introduction to project management is included. As the major outcome of the course, the students will have acquired the ability to integrate major design aspects from different disciplines in the frame of an aerospace project and to evaluate system design alternatives.

Participating students should have passed courses in engineering mathematics, mechanics, thermodynamics and mechanical design prior to the attendance of this course.
