Course contents

Modular concept with the following focuses:

  • German language intensive course with grammar, conversation, auditory and reading comprehension, writing skills, communication
  • seminars and lecturers to the general topic
  • textual work on selected literary texts
  • discussions, project work and workshops

including cultural programme:

  • visit to the Bremen Media Archive Günter Grass
  • excursion to Lübeck – hometown of Thomas Mann and Günter Grass

8 ECTS / 5 credit hours - US*

*Please note: These credits can be transferred to your home university/institution, however, it is your responsibility to verify with your home university/institution that the grades you earn in Bremen can be applied to your curriculum or course of study.
Your home university/institution may ask for an additional fee to transfer the credits.

Course participants

Students of German studies, graduates, teachers, students of cultural sciences and literature with a special interest in modern German literature and interested persons.
A high command of written and spoken German is prerequisite – level B2/C1/C2.
Minimum age 18 years.

Tram and bus ticket

As a participant of the International Summer School you can purchase a reduced monthly pass for EURO 50,-.

Additional Information

Internet access and e-mail are available to every participant.
During the entire stay tutors of the Hochschule Bremen will take care of participants’ needs.
At the end of the course a certificate will be issued to each participant.

Guided city tour, excursions (in part subject to a charge)*, trips within the surrounding area, welcome and farewell party
