Who doesn’t know the story of the Bremen Town Musicians from the Grimm collection of fairytales? Yet it is not alone this story that has carried the name of the city throughout the whole world.

Bremen – the smallest federal state in Germany with a population of 668,000 and an area covering 404 square kilometres. A city looking back on a thousand-year history. Nowhere is this evident than on the market square – an impressive witness to Bremen’s past. Wherever you look, monuments in stone invite you to an expedition through different eras of history. All round the Roland statue, which has symbolized Bremen’s freedom for over 600 years, you can see the legacy of power and splendour from centuries.

The Gothic Town Hall with its splendid Renaissance facade is centre as well as meeting place. Or the "Schütting", majestic seat of Bremen’s merchants.

Bremen – the green city on the river Weser, which has helped to bring fame and wealth to the Free Hanseatic City. Freedom and independence are hallmarks of which the citizens of Bremen are proud. Tolerance and cosmopolitan point of view underlie the fundamental nature of the city.
