About Bremen
Bremen is situated in the Northwest of Germany. The Hochschule Bremen is located in the centre of Bremen on the
river Weser. It takes only 5 minutes walking to be on the Market
Square. It is easy to reach the Hochschule Bremen by tram or bus from
all parts of the town. Who doesn’t know the story of the Bremen Town Musicians from the Grimm collection of fairytales? Yet it is not alone this story that has carried the name of the city throughout the whole world. Bremen – the smallest federal state in Germany with a population of 668,000 and an area covering 404 square kilometres. A city looking back on a thousand-year history. Nowhere is this evident than on the market square – an impressive witness to Bremen’s past. Wherever you look, monuments in stone invite you to an expedition through different eras of history. All round the Roland statue, which has symbolized Bremen’s freedom for over 600 years, you can see the legacy of power and splendour from centuries. "We are off to Bremen!" But the fairytale of the Bremen Town Musicians is not
all that the city has to tell. There is a lot more to see. Discover
